Both Tim Stafford and Chris Betjemann recommend the EMPI carb synch tool. So I bought a pair to synch my /2s, and they work like champs.

Chris describe the gauges in his excellent manual:

I've been asking questions about this over on the VBMWMO board after I received mine this week. Jeff's picture helped me get mine put together and installed.

This morning, I put them to work and report that it was very successful! :clap I went for a warm up ride and then removed the air horns and put the meters into place. Right away I saw that my idle speeds weren't the same, so I adjusted them for balance and a good RPM. Then under part throttle, say around 1500-2000 RPM, I could see that the left carb cable was pulling stronger. So I relaxed the cable tension for a good balance.

I reassembled everything and went for a spin. Quite a difference! Smoother idle and also much smoother at speed, all the way up to the shift points. The bike seemed to pull a little stronger but that might have been just the lack of the additional buzzing, etc.

I'm happy. It's like it's a new bike!!
