Does anyone out there have any experience with the Corbin Smuggler Seat? I am dealing on a 1999 K1200LT equipped with the Smuggler, however, I have never read any review on the seat, nor have I seen one. I will probably have to take a flight to California to look for myself, but thought someone may be able to help. I do know that it is a solo seat, and that I would have to convert it to a two up seat after my solo Alaskan trip in the Spring.:)

But, I always thought Corbin might have missed out on a good opportunity. The smuggler solo seat allows a small, locking tail trunk be attached. If they also offered an aux fuel tank for use with the smuggler they would have hit a home run. Especially with the sport-type bikes that the smuggler is made for.
Wouldn't a nice shapely plastic fuel tank be better than those big, square fuel cells everyone straps on?

I have a Corbin Smuggler on a Triumph Bonneville. The fit and finish is perfect. The little lid opens to reveal a storage area. The lid is lockable, and the entire interior is finished nicely in a felt type material. The inner side of the lid has a little pocket with that holds something small like keys or papers. The seal around the opening keeps out rain and dust. The color match is perfect, including a hand painted pin stripe that matches the tank. Could not be happier.

Looks very good on the bike.
A bit of a pain to get fitted, with no installation instructions. Major problem with the latch and fit of the lid. I've notified Corbin and I'll post when they get back to me.:scratch

I know the PO is getting the Corbin with his bike, but if anyone else is interested in the Smuggler set up I suggest you look to see if Sargeant has one for your bike, as they do for mine (K12S). Better price, and having owned both Corbins and Sergeants over the last 20 years, Sargeant would most likely be my first choice.

I finally heard back from Corbin. Three lines of self-congratulatory comments about how good they are and then a few words about how to adjust the catch on the lid of the trunk. That information was in error since there was clearly no parts as described.
In the end I was able to do some judicious bending and I reversed the catch. Now it works, no thanks to Corbin. If I lived close enough to their factory I could have perhaps done better. Shipping was over $200 so there was no way I was going to return it.
They shipped their product without even the slightest testing. A bit lazy for a company that describes itself as the "leading motorcycle seat
manufacture(sic) in the country".
