R1200S 6000 mile check

Just got the 6000 mile service done (at 5500 miles) on my R1200S. The service manager at Chicago BMW told me that there are only 97 black R1200S's in the country, I guess I have a rarity.

Anyone else with a black R1200S, lets check in for a sub-forum.

He also informed me that in all there are only 432 R1200S's in the country, the most popular being the silver/red scheme.

I also was very pleased with the 6000 mile service, they took care of some service recalls, new oil and filter, bike is tip top as I would expect.

I have to say I was drooling over a GS while waiting....maybe a 2nd bike is in the works one day?

Hey Larry -

Just turned 38,500 miles this weekend on my Yellow R12S. About 20K have been two-up. Another 500 have been off the clock, due to riding w/o an instrument cluster awaiting fairing parts/repair.

Only issue remains fuel showing near empty with 0.8 gal actually remaining.

Finally, my four year old has logged nearly 600 miles of co-pilot time and is beginning to become quite a road warrior, this past year!

P.S. Oil changes now stretched to 5K (<100ml used) and 48 mpg city/highway.
