I was reading my owners news and noticed on page 94 a row of mostly the same blue tents. I was wondering what brand/ model these tents are, as I am in the market and if they were that popular at the rally.....there were just too many in a row for that to be coincidence.

Anyone want to chime in with a personal favorite...feel free.

Thanks!

They were being rented from Sherpa Services. They included a sleeping bag, air mattress and coffee for the duration of the rally, as well as setup and take down. I believe the tents were 8'x8' Coleman tents. If you do search for Sherpa, you'll find threads and posts with nothing but glowing reports from those who use Ted's service.

And Ted knows how to make great coffee - lots of it. He always has the coffee made before the vendors are out of bed.

They are the best tents because you don't have to haul them there!:D

He uses a semi-tractor-trailer-truck, aka "semi", but then he hauls more than one tent.

Joe Actually no. I took my 8'x8' Coleman on a lot of rides. Even though it weighs close to 12 pounds, it wasn't a problem to carry on the bike.

I think everyone has their own style and preferences when it comes to tents. Some like them big and roomy, while others like them as small and lightweight as possible.

I'm most definitely in the less is more camp, so that being the case I've always bought backpacking tents (and I use them for that too). They don't take up much room on a motorcycle and they're easy to set up and take down.

The Big Agnes tents that Chasman mentioned are great quality, lightweight tents. I recently bought a similar high-quality, 2-person, lightweight (3.5 lbs), waterproof backpacking tent from REI, that I've liked very much too.

My favorite tent is a clean cattle stall at a mid-western county fairgrounds. Good, strong bars/posts for mounting a hammock and the livestock wash area is nearby for my morning shower. Pure luxury.

Not a semi, but an F-450 towing a 23klb 44' fifth wheel toy hauler trailer.

And, at TN this year, I supported over 145 tents (which meant supporting over 210 people). Yea, that was a lot of coffee!

Hey all: The Coleman tents are very nice rigs. We have two of them, one of the blue 8x8's which I use for sole camping, (I'm not big on confined spaces), and a larger 10x14 that we use when the better half goes with me. Neither tent is hard to pack and while they aren't the lightest, they are very stout and easy to set up. (That's really important, as I tend to try to squeeze "just a couple of more miles" into the day, and we always seem to be setting up in the dark!!) Did I mention that they are very reasonable in price? My blue one cost's a whopping 20.00, and the bigger tent was ten at the local Goodwill store. Cheap and reliable, doesn't get any better then that. Vaya con Dios, Dutch

I recently came across Hilleberg tents which seem to be lightweight, durable, very weather resistent as well as pricey. My wife and I like alot of room and are looking at a month long trip next year. I use a Moss Stardome 3 for solo camping. It stood up to the weather in Quebec at the RA St, Agapee rally with out leaks. If we end up getting aHilleberg the Moss will have to go.I've also used Eureka Timberline tents but they aren;t as stable in a strong wind as the Moss or as the Hilleberg appears to be.
