I'm shipping my bike via forward air tomorrow. 2007 r1200 rt

Forward air requires:

1. gas to be drained. What is the best way to do this?

2. Battery to be unhooked. I think I can figure this one out. If anyone has special hints please let me know.

3. Oil to be drained.

If anyone has experience using this outfit please let me know if my baby will be okay. Also, does the gas and oil really have to be drained?

Thanks!

Best way to do this is to remove the tank - this will help (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35414)

Take the negative cable off first then the postive.

3. Oil to be drained.

Oil Change DIY will help show you how to drain the oil (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35040)

Never shipped a bike but they probably want the volatile fluids and parts to be removed for the transit.

I had my R80/7 flown from Frankfurt to Dallas in 1980. I had to drain the gasoline but not the oil and I had to disconnect the battery and lower the windshield to a flat position.

Draining the gasoline makes sense (inflamable) but the engine oil?
