Hi,
I have an '04 R1150RS with approx 8500mi on the odometer, and am starting to look at new tires. I love the handling of the stock Metzelers that came with the bike.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any other tires that might be even better.
Any input appreciated.

Why mess with a good thing? If you love the tires, I wouldnt risk hating a set suggested by someone else. Get the Metzelers, and be happy.

Lotsa people saying plenty good things about Avons lately.
Have not tried them yet myself. Probably in about 2,000 miles.

Metzler MEZ4s have been great. Replaced Dulop Sport Max's which were junk.
On my 4th set. Wear evenly, no cupping, and handle great - my priority.
I ride agressive and get about 5,000 on a set of tires on 100 - 200 mile rides.

In two years, I've gone through 3 sets of Mez 4's and got well over 12 K on each set. I tried the Metzler Z6's for the last set and have over 8 on them at this time. They feel as good as the Mez's, maybe even a little better and seem to be on target for at least 12K miles or more. This includes all aspects of street riding with the occasional track day thrown in. Good grip and long lasting. It's only Metzlers for me. My $.02

Currently, 26800+ miles on my 2002 R1150RS, after I wore out the OEM Metzler M4s at 8000 miles, I went to set set of Metzler M6 for another 8000 miles, then a pair of Michelin Pilot Road which IMO better than either Metzlers, at 24000 miles I put on a Metzler M1 front tire and a Michelin Pilot Race rear tire. $150.00 for two rear Michelin Pilot Race tires was too good of a deal to pass up.
