Has anyone put a Sergeant World Sport Low Seat on an R1200RT that was set up from BMW with the Low Seat (one piece seat), Low Suspension? I'm asking because I'd like to know how much it changes the height of the seat. I'm a short person who is inseam challenged and find that the factory low seat, low suspension is challenging enough........I'd like a more comfortable seat and think this one would be good, but can't really deal with the seat being much higher. Has anyone swapped out the Low Seat (one piece seat) on a low suspension model? How much of a difference did it make? Do you like your Sergeant seat?
Thanks for any input you have, Don :scratch

I have a regular RT but also a short in-seam. So I have the lowered BMW seat.
However, I have been looking to get a custom seat. I wanted to go with a Sargent, but through conversations with the makers, I am leaning toward a Mayer seat because they will customize a seat without compromising height.
I would like to hear from others with this issue (too) to see if they have any experience with different types of seats.
Thanks for the question.

Can't answer the inseam question but will say that the seat pan of the Sargent slides you farther back. Kind of irritating to assume that one has a 36 inch reach. I'm 6-1 and wear a men's large in most shirts and jackets. I f you have an Xl sleeve size then you'll be okay. Besides that the seat is way comfortable. now i need risers, and some highway pegs.:brow

I don't know about inseam, but I have a regular 2007 RT (Not lowered) with the low seat pan. I had Bill Mayer redo my pan and am very pleased.
I Rode it for over a year with it in the lowest position and was not satisfied with it. I raised it to the higher position this year and I am very pleased. In the lower position, I realized I would slide slightly forward, making it uncomfortable. When I raised it to the higher position, I found that 500 & 600 mile days were far less straining. I didn't feel the same discomfort as I did when in the lower position. I'm not flat footed in either position, but when riding high mile days, it is not an issue being on tippy toes.
So, bottom line, putting it in the lower slot is not a good idea for me.
Hope this helped.

Are Rick Mayer and Bill Mayer brothers? Or related in someway?

Direct response to your question, Don: Call Sargent and ask them. They'll know. You have a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee to cover you, too. You do pay shipping both ways if you return it.
If the first person you speak to seems unsure, just ask for someone else. I've found their customer service to be very good.

Does one provide better seats than the other?

I would read this thread: http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40959
They both are vendors at the National and appear to have very satisfied customers.

I had one of the first Sargent low seats on my '06RT. It was the same height as the BMW low seat, but somewhat wider, so flatfooting wasn't quite as easy. It is superior to the OEM low seat for comfort, but not quite as comfortable for me as the Rick Mayer leather seat I now have. The Mayer seat is just as easy to flatfoot as OEM.
The build quality of both seats is excellent, although the Mayer seat took about 2 months from order to delivery, while the Sargent was delivered (their pan) in about two weeks.
