BLANFORD -- George Euvis Blanford, 69, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2004 in El Paso, TX. George served with the U.S. Navy on the submarine, Cubera. Mr. Blanford was the founder and president of the BMW motorcycle club in Albuquerque, NM. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in these states: California, Michigan, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. He was also a volunteer with the Oregon State Parks, and the Oregon Fish and Game. Mr. Blanford was employed by Tonto National Forest in Cave Creek, AZ and by Smokey Bear Ranger District in Ruidoso, NM. He attended the University of Florida in Gainsville, FL. George was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and was also employed by NASA in Florida and Texas and was instrumental in all Apollo missions. His past employment was General Electric, Pan Am, Dow Chemicals, Digital Equipment, and Trimble Navigation. George owned and operated his own business in Palm Bay. FL. He retired in 1995 and moved from San Jose, CA to Pie Town, NM. He was a full time RV'er for several years, volunteering for the above-mentioned organizations. Survived by his wife, Ruth A. Blanford. Sons: Dennis and Daryl Blanford. Daughters: Desiree Hancock and Susan Huey, and daughter-in-law, Rachel Blanford. Brother, Tracy Blanford. Sisters, Margarette Starrette, Maureen Cook, and Francis Thompson. Four grandchildren: Amber and Megan Blanford, Jordan and Josh Hancock. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Home- East, of El Paso, TX.
