Hello to everyone, Finally pulled the trigger on a pre-owned 08 R1200GS. I had been searching for a GS and this one was a trade in on a 09 GSA. 4625 Miles and has most options except security system. The previous owner liked the GSA look and added the engine guard, extra power outlet, windshield side deflectors and GSA pannier mounting hardware. Purchased from Nick's BMW of DePere where the GS was originally purchased and serviced and then traded.

Looking forward to finding friendship, technical and touring info from the forum.

Wow. You got a lot of farkles with that bike.

Thanks for including a picture in your introduction.

Good folks here except for one old grouch (and we ignore him). :D

Glad to have you here as part of the family.

If you have not already done so, check out the many Chartered Clubs in Wisconsin (http://www.bmwmoa.org/club/chartered_clubs/US/Wisconsin)by clicking on the link in blue.

I know it was pretty cold there last night, but you should still get in some good rides before the snow comes for good.

Welcome to you and your beautiful bike. There's plenty of riding left before we have to deal with ice and snow (we hope!) so get your warm or electric gear ready. The GS should have no problem at all with heated gear.

I'll second Sibud's suggestion to find a local club.

Thanks for all the welcome messages. I pickup the moto Oct 17th. This week I need to figure out insurance (already got a Markel quote). I also get a few accessories included so I am getting the Adventure aluminum cases (the bike already has the Adventure mounting hardware, the previous owner put the cases on his new GSA and left the hardware) and the GS tank bag. Also lining up a ride from Racine to DePere.

I found the 08 R1200GS Rider's Manual in pdf format, if anyone wants a link to that, let me know.

And I have scheduled vacation for the 2010 International Rally :clap

You have great taste in bikes. :clap

P.S. The yellow ones are fastest, I'm told...

iRene: Thanks for the welcome. They told me the same plus wire wheels are stronger, faster, tougher too. How do you like those Adventure panniers? I'm getting the Adv side cases, do you have the top case as well?
