Someone just posted a trailering question in the oil head section. He hardly got ripped at for even thinking about trailering his bimmer....
Was there something extra in the beer at the rally?:lurk
Or are people getting soft?

"... why am I so soft in the middle when the rest of my life's so hard" - Paul Simon
However, I know what you mean. Be soft in the middle but tone your ass to ride the miles... if you can (time, health, vintage, family movement, weather, etc) BTW, did you say he was trailering a car? - Bob

When I worked at a motorcycle/powersports store, we had a cistomer who would tow his Sea Doo Watercraft on it's trailer behind his Harley. It was snowing when he brought it in for winterization. That my friends, is dedication.

The grumpy folks are all out riding, give it some time, the weather is about to get ugly, and so will the attitudes............

I've been riding too long and I'm no longer young and sensitive. So, in my own humble opinion.........you can just kiss-off.
However, I have made the first trip to the lumber yard and the truck bed insert is taking shape (in concept). Within a few days, weeks or, possibly, months, a drop dead wheel cradle will appear. Every problem is a opportunity to be creative, especially when the weather is crappy and your domestic escapes are limited to the garage/woodshop.
Have a good one.

:rofl:rofl:rofl now, after a bit of a day, I must say that you summed it up with appropriate bravado and dead center accuracy. Dang that was a good laugh! - Bob

I won't be kissing off. My bike as been on a trailer a few times. I'm not against you.
It's just seems that latley people are asking the sacred cow questions and getting nice good answers instead of a scolding.
This would make a funny hijack if we turn this into a trailer milage contest...
My RT has 12000 miles and has about 1200 trailer miles. Wow, that's 10%! I'd better get out and ride more.

My '85 K100RT with 87,000 miles, and trailer'ed its first 30 miles just 2 months ago with a fuel problem.
But I pass no judgment on trailer-ing, sometimes it's just what works best.
...No judgment on 3-wheelers either....at some point all of us will have issues 'getting a leg over'!

No offense was taken...... Sometimes you have to do some nasty jobs. I liked the suggestion from one guy to wear a disguise. He had a good attitude. The trailer mileage contest is good or, perhaps, a "pimp your trailer" contest. We can become true role-models for the HD guys:)
The sacred cow issue is a real sticking point for some folks. They don't want to deal with anything outside of the "rule" book. I've met a few of them and didn't get too excited. They may have accumulated a lot of miles, but many of them are fairly one-dimensional.

Some people mature and leave their "macho" fantasies behind.

Why would I want to scold or judge anyone on this site? Trailer, don't trailer, ride a Harley or a BMW. Don't ride. Ride far, or ride around your yard. Ride fast, or go slow. I don't care. Whatever trips you trigger!
Some will always be too quick to judge and condemn. Makes you wonder if they even enjoy riding...or life.

Myself, I see no reason to trailer my own bikes, unless they are broken. But then, I love long distance riding.
But, some people want to take the bike along on vacation so they can ride it around at their destination. I see no issue with that. If they want to travel in the comfort of their motorhome, SUV or whatever, then be able to ride their bike at their destination, great. What ever floats your boat.
