The fairing was touched up 5 yrs ago, otherwise all original ... I replaced the complete exhaust system 2 yrs ago, the motor has not been rebuilt at all. This bike is my everyday rider.

Steve, I have a '78 RS that is my daily rider. Love it. It is not the bike that sees the most mileage (my oilhead does on longer trips). It is the bike I love the most. I feel like a WW2 fighter pilot when I get in the "cockpit".

I hear you ... I honestly think that if BMW made a new one of these bikes that I would buy one. I confess to not having ridden any other offerings from BMW, I do know that these are superior in all ways, the RS just has some ' feel " to it that I really still enjoy. It is still thrilling to take that first ride each spring. It is eventually going to require some major overhaul at some point, a decision will have to be made then I suppose. It will not be worth much with so many miles, it looks like it's a keeper !

Nice bike and jacket!

Thank you. Part of a 2 piece Dainese suit that I won from Cycle Canada magazine at a bike show in Toronto. I paid to have the lettering done. Sometimes it pays to fill out those little cards !

A lot to be said to a committed relationship with your bike. I tend to be a bit of a bike flooze and am still searching for that perfect one. Maybe the new Oilhead roadster I just got will do it for me.

100,000 S-miles, Gail. I would like to try a K1200 some time, sorry 1300, I just got used to the classic ride and power of the airhead.
