Just joined. I've got a 1974 r90s that has been in pieces since the early 80's. I bought it as a basket case back then and tore it apart with the intention of putting it on the track. Marriage and kids sidetracked that endeavor. I'm now retired and have pulled the old rusted hulk out of retirement. Really don't know where to start. The only thing I know for sure is I need a new front end and the front wheel needs straighting. So the reason for joining this forum is advice and parts.

Welcome to the club and the forum!

I'm moving your post to the Airheads area, where I know you'll get a lot of advice about that R90S. You might also want to make a general intro posting in the New Members area as well.

Welcome. A good place to start is by joining MOA#214, the Airheads Beemer Club. They have regular get-togethers of Airheads and tech days. This would hook you up with like-minded persons in your area.

The Airheads Beemer Club is MOA #214. It's a "virtual" club and focuses on local and state activites. The ABC was the largest club in attendance at the recent national rally, so there's a bunch of us out there!!

Welcome...

I took my '74 R90/6 apart in 1997. At the time, the frame, subframe, tank and rear fender were sent out for painting, the handlebars re-chromed, all the small parts put into ziplocs and labeled, kreemed the tank, bought new tires and then I didn't put it back together for 10 years! The fear of the unknown paralyzed me until a friend volunteered to spend a week of his vacation and helped me re-assemble. Now I have a classic MC that I will own forever. Don't get intimidated, it is a big job, but one that is a sequence of small steps and large expenditures:dance!

thanks for the encouragement because right now I'm having second thoughts.

You can do it! Just look at my R90 thread.. there is no meaning to "hopeless."
