Wife and I have never been to a rally or ever went camping by motorcycle.
We're going to the Lima Ohio National next year and I want to ride down and camp.
She's pretty tough when it comes to riding but packing what we need to camp for a week on our K75 and keeping her happy is going to be difficult.
Can it be done?
Any tips/advise?

Consider shipping your camping gear to the rally. It works great! Watch for details in the spring of '05. Here's how it works...you ship gear, etc. to the rally address so that your gear arrives after X date. When you arrive at the rally you simply go to the designated receiving area and retrieve you package(s). Early on Sunday morning you go to the UPS booth (that is on grounds) and they will assist with repacking and shipping your gear.
It sounds too easy, but, as I said above, it works great!

I went two-up to a rally years ago on my Guzzi V65SP with soft luggage. I can't even imagine doing that today solo! Guess I've gotten spoiled.

When you subtract the weight of the bike from GWVR doesn't the K75 stack up as a pretty darn cargo friendly bike?
I expected to hear responses from veteran riders who have camped two up with a lot less storage capacity.... Can it be done??? :dunno
:idea
I guess if you can't bring enough stuff to keep her happy she could always get her own bike.

I have camped 2-up on a K75RT. We didn't camp every night, but just about every night. HAving a U-pack was the key; light bulky stuff can go in there and free up space in the bags. I used a Reynolds Rack with backrest; the U-bag sat on the rear of the rack and on the saddlebags. I also used a tankbag. Yes, we were loaded up but it worked pretty well. The U-bag also acted like armrests for the passenger, and she could even access stuff on the road.
If I had it to do over again, I'd change nothing (well, a more powerful bike would be nice, etc) but fortunately my current GF rides her own bike.
