Albany's 400th Birthday & Oktoberfest

Albany, NY is celebrating its 400th birthday. That milestone makes Albany the second oldest city in the United States. To help celebrate the Half Moon paid a visit to Albany along with many other sailing ships. And, it is also time for Oktoberfest and Bier.

I've crossed the Atlantic on a US destroyer. The Navy calls a destroyer a small boy. By those standards the Half Moon isn't much bigger than an overgrown canoe.

It was all very tasty. The carrot salad had a bit of tang, the potato salad had nice pieces of bacon and the pickled egg had been marinated long enough to give it some zip.

Next year we will have to make the Oktoberfest a ride destination, pick out a couple of tables and enjoy.
