I'm going back to work Monday, after 8 months out.
I immediately called the Markel and put my GT back on the road
As expected it failed inspection, I ordered a new front tire.
It was soooo nice to take it out after a 6 month hiatus .
4 new tires on the car too.
Casual work environment, 25 minute ride. It should be easy to take the bike.
I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to going back to cubical ville.
Must have something to do with paycheck-ville.
Now if I can just figure out how to get up before 8. :)

Good too hear the new's Gail. :thumb
Our state government has been forcing to take furlough day's. Our governor stated that essential employee's would not be affected. So they furloughed the state firefighter's. Although the governor stated that essential service's would be exempt.
So I had to take 48 hour's of furlough only to be called in for overtime. I ended up with 96 hour's of OT.:banghead I am so confused but, I recieved one heck of a paycheck. Cha-ching........

Good news! Amazing how important work is, irrespective of economic needs. But, what is a Markel?

Congrats on your good news. I too have experienced under/un employment and it can be very demoralizing. Makes one question their being.
As the German people say "Das Leben ist 'ne Wundertute!" Life is a grab bag.

Great news, Gail. Glad to hear you're back to getting a paycheck and back to having the option of the K12.
I know so many people personally that have had to fight through the loss of their own job, or the loss of their spouse/partner's job. It's been tough for many. It's so nice to hear of someone returning to work.

Yes, paycheck-ville helps one cope with cubical-ville.
Now if I can just figure out how to get up before 8. :)
Just think of getting on the GT in the morning and riding to and from work. Hope that helps.

Why is it that when you have "time off" you don't have money or the liberty to go.
Now you can afford those trips but how long before vacation time kicks in.
Sometimes this world just isn't fair!
The first time I was laid off back in July of 1991 I had a new job lined up but it wouldn't start until Sept. Hmmm...... what to do. I was single, had money in the bank and new tires on the bike. 10,000 miles later I was back in Houston (home at the time) with a job waiting for me in Oregon.
Layoff's can be positive life changers.
I still live in Oregon but my wife wants to move (with me) back to Texas. I can't see doing it until the job market improves.

I broke it to my new boss that I need a couple of days off in 3 weeks. :)
I mentioned something about quarterly board meetings, and October's was in Oregon. She said she could be accommodating and proceeded to tell me who in the group owned a Harley. :brow

Yes, this whole work thing is damnable conundrum. I've tried many times to convince Annie that the proper solution is to divide and conquer; by which I mean I ride - she works. So far we have failed to reach agreement on my proposal.

With this unemployment debacle, how fortunate for you that you were only off for 8 months. Good luck on the new job.
I'm sure there are people out there just starting the unemployment journey of uncertainty.
