Hey out there...
I'm getting tired of the vast difference in comfort (lack of) I get from the stock seat on my recently acquired 98 R1100RT and the comfort I use to have with my 78 Airhead with a "Day Long". The 78 came to me with the seat already on it - got lucky. I hear differing things about the different seat makers - Rick vs rocky vs sargent vs corbin vs "comfort seat" vs Russell... what the real skinny on these seats - best for the price - is heated worth it - etc?
Thanks:help

I think we should all send back our stock seats to Fritz in Germany
and tell him where to put them! Try a Rick Mayer they are heavenly!

I have a Sargent seat and love it. Stock seats are for stock butts. My butt is not stock.

Danobeemer, I've had Rick build two seats for me. The first on a '85 K100RT (shortly before I sold it), the second on my current ride, a R1100RT, which I added back in June. I have been very satisfied with the comfort and quality of both, although I haven't put more than about 6 thousand miles on either. Having said that... I will not buy another saddle from Rick unless I ride the bike to his home in California; which I did for the K100 seat. Rick is a great guy who I like and admire but ordering the second saddle from him was just too much frustration. When I placed the order Rick told me I would have a 10-12 week wait. I paid in full, including a $300 deposit for the seat pan. Sixteen weeks later I finally received it. On one follow up call Rick said he had me scheduled for a drive in build in July. On another he said he mixed me up with a R100RT. It took another three months before he returned my $300 deposit. Rick - if you're reading this, I'm sorry, but it is what it is.

Well...:brow
2 for Rick's and 1 Sargent - I'm seeing a trend.
I don't mind waiting a while if it's the right time of year and it reieves the "Plague of Fritz" from my buttocks (I think they send the butt bombers to us Americans as a "Gesture" of thier appreciation of our oil and the price they are enabled to pay).
Good responses - any more epinions welcome

and find it excellent. An additional advantage with the Sargent is that you don't have to send them your seat pan. Just take the seat out of the box and click into place just like the stock seat.

I have a Sargent on my '00 Roadster, Got mine back when it was a custom build. Bought a crappy seat on the net and sent that. Kept my new stock seat just in case. The Sargent is way better than the stock and good for 500+ mile days. Plus, it looks great! Guess the poll is tied up.

less $, hand built quality, and truly made as a "custom", just for you. that would be a RMC, not a Sargent. The Sargent is very good- and better than a Corbin- but it's not made like Rick's, nor will Sargent give you the same level of support/guarantee that Rick does.
