Man! I knew it. We just cannot avoid it. The leave's on the tree's are changing color. It is close too deer season. My neck is starting to swell.
The biggest indicator is the section in the MOA ON , the when and where section that tells us where the rally's are at. The dot's have disappeared. That is so traumatic for me to see the dot's gone. It only means one thing. Snow!:uhoh
I am still not fully recovered from last year. All of our snow in Northeast Michigan fell by the foot. I am better prepared this year. Instead of a walk behind snow blower, I did get an old 9n Ford Tractor. The tractor is a lot of fun and simple to work on. It is like wrenching on an old /2. In fact, I am thinking of getting new sheet metal, paint it black and have some white pinstripe's painted on the old dove. :bliss
So what kind of plan's are you making during the motorcycle idle time? I am going to learn how too make my own beer. :beer I know how to drink it so, that should not be an issue. I am also going to try an get a new chartered club going in Northern Michigan. Then I can share my home made beer.
I do plan on doing a lot of hunting and ice fishing. That is a big deal up here. The best thing about ice fishing is the fact, you do not need a cooler to keep your beer cold.

What is this "idle time" of which you speak. In S. Illinois we don't have any. :dance
Of course, it get's hot here during the summer and some days I don't ride because of the heat and humidity. A/C is a good "idle time" activity.:laugh
Would ice fish during the winter, but there is not enough ice to support my weight.
Good luck in the formation of your club. You will be able to have meetings next winter.

Our first goal is selling our home and subsequently purchasing a new home. Our current home is too small and if, by the grace of God, we add another child to the mix, it will explode! So a new home purchase is at the top of our list.
Second, introduce my son (1 1/2 years) to the to the wonderful world of rock and roll, heavy metal music and motorcycles. I tried this with my daughter (now 5 years) and failed miserably. Nothing but princesses, pink and Hannah Montana for her! If all goes as planned, he will enjoy Alice in Chains, Tool, ZZ Top and anything on 2 wheels!
Third (and no less important than the others), purchase a new motorcycle. I'm determined to have a K12GT next spring!
Also, I think a new fly fishing rod/reel is in order, along with making plans to do more fishing in 2010.

Well, let's see... I'm going to be leading some Nu Yawkers up CA-1 this weekend. The California Coast Campout & BBQ for vintage BMWs is in a couple weeks down by Paso Robles. I have friends coming in from Germany the last two weeks of October to go riding here. Which means I won't be able to go to the Airhead's "Bad to the Beach" campout on the north coast. But the beginning of November I will ride down to New Mexico for Don Cameron's "Deming Gathering" BBQ feast, and do some riding there.
It's true that I don't have any real riding plans for the rest of November and December -- my family is coming up here for Thanksgiving and we're going down to the in-laws for Xmas -- but I am planning to go to Death Valley in January. There's the Clubman show to go to in March and I will have my Surf City Tech Day in April. I might go to Vech's rally in Sturgis, MS the week after my Tech Day...
"Motorcycle idle time"???

Current temp in Humble, Texas is 67 -- the first dip below 70 is a clear sign of cooler temps ahead. :) Looking forward to some cool riding weather. Fortunately, we've got about 9 months ahead of cooler riding temps before the sun heats things up again next Summer. We have some cold snaps down here, but nothing an extra layer or a heated vest can't handle.

Speaking of which, the past few Autumns have been great for riding, since downstate NY and the entire Tri-State area have been having relatively mild weather.

Yes, Winter is coming. Starting to get the garage ready (cleaned out) for a new project. When it gets to the point where I can't ride due to weather the bike will be getting a good going over, it's yearly wash and polish, and full check over from front to back. Then put aside for those nice clear days we sometimes get in winter.
Once all that is done, then I am about to set on a strange adventure in the garage. Bringing in an old Russian Ural sidecar rig to rebuild? Well more to reassemble with lots of newer parts. Right now it is in a whole lot of boxes and bags. I think I have everything, but time will tell. One big jigsaw puzzle. May keep the old engine for display purposes. Plan on installing an R100 I rebuilt last winter. Should either be lots of fun, or a Royal PITA. If all goes as I plan (things seldom do) then by the end I will have a nice old/newish beast to ride around in the snow and ice. Heck, it is built like a freakin tank.

Last fall was not so great for me for riding. I was house bound with a busted ankle. The weather was really good right up to the day the cast came off :doh I came out of the hospital afterwards and was greeted by wind driven snow. :banghead
I plan to enjoy every nice day I can this year.

I'm looking forward to cooler weather as the older I get the more heat/humidity bother me. My garage is being reorganized so I can work on my bikes in comfort. The HD needs little more than regular oil changes and the usual checks on nuts, bolts, tires, lights, etc. The CLC comes out from under warantee in Oct so I'll learn how to adjust valves and perform other maintainance aside from everyday checks. Casting lead bullets for my black powder rifles is always done in the fall and spring and I need to stock up for next years competitions. My next large project is to arrange storage in my quonset hut allowing me space for large projects (honey do/job jar). I just finished installing a whole house tankless water heater and will have a much more efficient a/c unit installed before XMAS. I was raised upstate NY but have no desire to drive in/on snow or shovel it anymore. Heated pants and gloves really mitigate my arthritis and allow me to ride year round in NE FL. Ride Safe :usa :usa

Fall was my favorite time of year when I lived in PA. Here in FL you hardly notice the change. High temps went from 90 to 88 with the change in seasons, but it will moderate by mid November. This is when our riding season really begins. Winter in FL also means more impared drivers on the road.

Best season 'round these parts IMHO.
Welcome Autumn!
Is a little bittersweet though as it marks the end of "hey, I think I'll just jump on the bike and take a hop" season.

:stick:nyah Sorry Wezul....our only change is that El Nino may bring a lot of rain weekly until next June...but with -36 inches below normal in past two years,I'll sing, dance and ride in it!
Our heat wave has finally broken:thumb...until Thanksgiving if the past two repeat themselves again

It's kinda depressing when we already have folks stopping by the shop looking for parts and service for their sleds.

You know, of course, that 90% of the people reading this are saying to themselves, "Sled, what does he mean sled?"
