Thanks so much! Can you say something about the handlebar replacement I can just barely see in one of the photos?

Yes, any info on alternate handlebars or risers is appreciated. I did a 2000 mile trip on my ST and just about died during the last 200 miles, so I plan on doing something about the seat and the bars before next spring.
(And yes, I know some guys will suggest getting an RT if I'm looking for more comfort, but I want an ST.)

Darryl - thanks for asking - this was my last winters project to get my wife comfortable on the bike.
It is the AC Shnitzer Handlebar Kit
Here is the link (http://www.ac-schnitzer.de/en/bmw-motorcycles/products/r-1200-series/r-1200-st/general-info/)

Kirby - My wife had the same reaction and this kit works perfect, else we would have had to get rid of the bike because it was so uncomfortable for her.

Here are some pictures:
This is the drivers' point of view

This is the throttle side view
The bottom piece is a riser I had made
The middle piece is the orginal riser from AC Schnitzer Kit
The top piece is an up and back riser from suburban machinery (i think - don't have my data with me)
The kit comes with a longer throttle cable assembly

Thanks Luis
As always more good info, I was hoping you wouldn't forget about us hexhead drivers after you went to your K bike.

The Hexhead will always hold a special place for me.
If I could have kept my RT when I got the GT I would have in a heartbeat!!!

Semper_Fi,
Thank you for taking the time to compose these DIY articles, photos, details, etc. for the R12ST.

Nice work on the handlebars. Had you considered the SWMoto kit to move them above the trippletree? I plan on doing this myself, without the kit, and making my own supports. I'll post it when I am done.

Thanks Jim - no I didn't, I was looking for a direct replacement which Schnitzer provided in the kit - not a machinist so I leave that up to the pro's.

I moved my bars above the triple tree using the Verholen kit. Just right for me.

I have an idea to not use a kit, but to relocate the pins to the top of the trippletree by drilling and tapping the tree. There is a lot of meat there, and I am confident it will easily be strong enough.
Was the longer brake line completely necessary? That is the only expense I might have to suck up.

Luis,
How did the change in riding position affect the wind protection from the fairing and screen? I notice you have the larger screen, was that there before the conversion?
Thanks,

Jim,
For me the Cee Bailey's Euro screen solved that problem.

The screen was there before the change. My wife says there is a little more buffeting because she sits up higher but not too much.
