Scenario;
1st bad behavior; Started bike, warmed it up, left for work, went through the gears from 1,2,3 and the bike died as though it had no fuel. A couple twists of the throttle while still moving and the engine came back to life again and ran fine the rest of the way to work (16kms).
2nd bad behavior; same day. Leaving work for home, fired up the bike on the side stand, it ran for while I packed up my side cases with work stuff, got on put up the side stand and put it into gear, as I was about to pull away it died. Tried restarting it. It would start but would die again right after firing up. I thought - side stand kill switch - got off the bike and while holding it upright worked the side stand and switch multiple times hoping it would unstick the switch and run again. Success! I got home and no issues. Then lubed the switch and cable slide area and worked it for a few moments.
3rd bad behavior; next morning. Fired up the bike, allowing it to warm up while packing in my work stuff into the side cases and after running for at least 2 minutes it just dies but died in a manner that sounded like it was starving for fuel....kinda a brrrrrr blub blub ...... then nothing. It would fire upon starting but would not continue to run after firing. All this while on the center stand. I wiggled the sidestand lever and switch again wondering if this would make a difference but it did not.
It seems like the engine is starving for fuel........dirty filter? Tank breather?
Anyone got any suggestions? This is my first BMW so I don't yet know the bike very well.
I looked for a fuel filter but could not find it by just looking the bike over. Where is the fuel filter? Easy to change?
What else could be causing this?
Thanks!
