Got mine from an outfit called RPM Cycles in Ventura California...they are a brick & mortar store, but they have a web site also...

Bob's BMW shows in their catalog that flat key blanks for up to 1980 are $3...part number 51 25 9 062 680.

I got the BMW folder type from the dealer today for a little over $10. Just have to take it to a lock smith key maker to get it right.

Took my blanks this afternoon to a locksmith...the original blanks are made of steel, very hard on cutting equipment...normal cutting charge is ten bucks per... I only paid five...be aware of that little tidbit!!

Hey Gertiektn

Wondering if you can provide me with the dealer name you got your folding keys from ?

thanks.

I've got a couple of blank folding-style keys in a drawer someplace. Had enough trouble finding someone who could cut them that I gave up. The folding part was an issue, they couldn't figure out how to mount either the old or new key in their jigs.

This is NOT rocket science.

ANY BMW motorcycle dealer can get the key for you.

Thanks for all the replies except the last pompous comment about this is NOT rocket science. Anyone can find a blank key through a BMW dealer but not any BMW dealer can get the original folding key, which is what I wanted. In this case it turns out I was provided the name of BMW of Denver and have found my folding keys in case anyone else is looking for the same type of key.

regards,

John.
