I have a 95 k75rt...the speedo gauge face has warped to the point that the speed needle binds and is stuck at 40 kph..is that a difficult fix/replace ?

Hi, Reilly,
I have the same problem (not as severe) with both tach and speedo on my '95 K75RTP. It happens in hot weather when the instrument faces are in the sun for long periods, like when riding across Texas in the summer. The needles stick near the 11:00 to 1:00 position.
I removed the instrument cluster and carefully took it apart to see how the instruments are held. I cut some very small shims from a plastic advertising card and, when I put the cluster back together, shimmed the instruments so they were a very small distance farther away from the face of the cluster. I probably won't know if it really worked until next summer, but the theory is sound.
In your case, I would see if the instrument faces are warping or if the needles seem to be bending. If the (paper) instrument face is loose, it can be glued down. I don't know what can be done about the needles if they are bending or bowing; they are fairly delicate. Good Luck!

I did fix mine this spring after doing the clock/ fuel+ swop with Saltcreek. Pulling the instruments apart with Jim gave me the interior view and the confidence to do the job.
All I did was get everything apart sufficiently to allow me to get under the gauge face and use "Krazy glue" in multiple places. Having now gone through a summer without the tach sticking when in bright sunlight has made it worth the trouble.
But if for some reason the problem were to return I would do Phil's fix.

Well thank you for the responses...wonder if there is any type of replacement faces...those surgical procedures sound pretty intricate for my large kobasa fingers. Cheers.

Not from BMW, the faces come on the instruments. However, I did a few and it really isn't hard. You just have to remove the face which is already delaminated and clean all the old sticky off. Then an neat way to do it is to put the base of the face on a wooden board, drill holes where the screws went to hold the face to the rest of the instrument, install wood posts (like toothpicks) in the holes and drop the newly glued face down on the toothpics which perfectly align it with the base. Then lift off and apply pressure (old encyclopedia book) for a time and you're done.
