I wonder if people have had an experience buying something from Corbin recently and how it went? The reason I ask is I ordered a seat from them. Of course I noticed the price on their website. When they sent a confirming email to me, the price was listed as...$0.00! What the heck is THAT all about?! Calling them up I had another little suprise. They had been trying to call me because they didnt know what model of seat I wanted! (this is for my KLR and theres a flat, dished, and something else you can get) Well shoot guys I used your order form VERY CAREFULLY and ordered exactly what I wanted. It even said on the confirming email FLAT SEAT. I really didnt get a straight answer about the receipt showing $0 for the seat either!
Is everything going OK at Corbin these days? Are they in some kind of financial trouble?

They probably left the seat price blank until they are certain what seat you want.

I can't tell you what financial shape they are in but I can relay my initial customer service experience Corbin.

I had purchased a used Corbin seat from a fellow board member here for my '02 R1150RT last year and noticed recently that one of the little rubber bumpers had come off the bottom of the seat. This caused the seat to wobble and it definitely needed replacing. All of the other bumpers were severly worn to various shapes and I figured I would call Corbin to see how much it would cost to replace the bumpers. They asked me how many I needed and I told them 10-11 for both seats, he took my name and address information and then when I asked how much the damage was he said....no charge.

I thanked him profusely but told him that I wasn't the original owner of the seat and only had it for about 10 months. The sticker on the bottom of the seat indicates it was made in 1996. He said no problem and was there anything else he could do? I guess they take their lifetime warranty seriously on these seats.

The rubber bumpers arrived with a bag of rivets about 3 days later! :dance

I found out what was going on there with Corbin. Apparently they get a lot of "wishfull thinkers" who want seats but dont come across with the $$$. So they contact the purchaser to see if he's for real before commiting to the order. Hence the $0 on the receipt. That stuff about they dont know what seat I wanted is total bullcrap. That or their on line ordering proceedure is faulty. I guess they are victims too and are just covering their asses. When I saw that $0 on the receipt I was wondering if they would fill it in later with a higher figure.

What did that cost them 50 cents?

I have a showroom store in my area.
There are few examples and several "consultation booths".
They still order online and gets delivered there and their garage installs ( if you get bags).
The few times I have been there on non Bike festival time the place was empty of customers.

I have had several unsatisfactory dealings with Corbin. Never again!

The last fiasco I had ordered a seat for my K1100LT. The seat shows up and it doesn't fit. I call and let them know. They tell me it does fit and its just me. So I take a bunch of pictures and show them the 3 inch gap from the back seat to the rear cowling. They ask what the model # on the bottom of the seat is. After telling them they ask why I put the seat on the bike since its the wrong one. :scratch

Gee I don't know, maybe because I ordered a K11 seat and this is what they sent. I ask if they can send the correct seat and I would get them the wrong one back. They refuse to make or send the new seat until they received the old seat back.:banghead I box up the seat and ship it back. I got confirmation that they had received the seat back. After impatientantly waiting for over 2 weeks I call and ask where the new seat is. They tell me they still need the old seat. After telling them that Joe Shmoe (whatever the name was) had signed for it 2 weeks ago. They said they had no record of it and I needed to send the old seat back. It took 2 days of calling for one of the phone people to walk over to the receiving area and ask them about the seat. The phone person personnally found it sitting in a corner.

It was now spring time and they said my build date for the new seat was set up and I should be receiving the seat in 4 weeks. They would not move up the build date even though every problem was of their own making. This was my 3rd time dealing with Corbins wonderful customer service. I will NEVER buy another seat from them. They have the worst customer service I have ever had.

Now I have a Sargent seat and both the seat and the customer service from them was great.
