Hello and Gruess Gott,
new member here, I love BMW since I am a little boy, grew up in Munich, had the great privilege to drive almost all of their cars.
Now I am in the saddle for a few years now.
My english is not always that great, so bear with me..
Just a little note to " geisterfahrer"
that word is a horror to all who hear it, because it is announced only if there is a car coming the wrong way on the Autobahn, that means a head on collision.. just to let you know..
I am excited and look forward to meet some new friends here.
Thanks for reading.

I forgot to mention that I do ride a 1999 R 1100 Rt, my previous bike was a
K 1100 LT.
I love taking the small spare time I have to take trips up to Wisconsin or as far west as I can as long as I make it back in time for work.
In early spring I took 7 days to drive down to Key West and back.
Again, thanks for reading and a save trip to every one

Welcome to the family. Glad to have you here and look forward to reading more of your posts.

If you have a pic of your bike to post we would love to see it.

Seven days to Key West and back sounds like fun.

Ride Well

Isn't it fun to see the areas of America and how it changes as we travel?

thank you for the nice welcome,
yes it was fun going down to Key West.
America is such a beautiful country, and I am more then happy to assist in some German language needs..
I forgot again, I am trying to upload my picture, well not me, I am too ugly I am told, lol, but that from the bike, I already have it resized and all.
It does show in the profil but when I try to save it, it says upload failed.. I am doing something wrong.. please help..
thank you

Hi Joleze welcome aboard.

Are you trying to set up your avatar?

The file needs to be 19.5 K in size or 70 x 70 pixels - which ever is smaller.

Hi, Joleze,
Willkommen! Don't worry, your English is very understandable and is much better than my German! If you ever plan to travel to the Desert Southwest, look me up.

Great to have you! Interesting first post. Now I know what the meaning of"geisterfahrer", even if I cannot pronounce the word! Thank you for that info.

thanks for the nice welcome.
Mr. Semper Fi, I resized my image twice, once to the recomended 300 by 300 pix on the page where uploading an image is done, with no success.
I also tried your recommended resolution of 70 by 70, with the same result.
I can see the image after I hit the upload button, but when hitting : save changes, it says: upload failed.

Well, the good thing is that no one will suffer by having to look at me, lol, but I figured I put my green bike up, but at a resolution of 70x70, that picture is almost microscopic small.
I do appreciate all your help, and perhaps one day I will be smart enough to perform such a challenging task.

I have another question, and since I am new here, I will ask it to you all.
For the Chicago chapter of this BMW MOA, is there a extra member fee on top of the BMW MOA membership fee? I am just curious, and I will not cry if I don't get a pin, lol, I wasn't even aware that there is such a thing as a pin.

Another thing that confuses me is the thing with the "first class and so on thing" as a option when I did sing up for the premium membership for the MOA.
What does that mean or what is it for? I did not dare to order or select it, because I could not find out the meaning of it.

Again, your help is greatly appreciated.
Have a nice and save ride

Welcome, from Wisconsin. I think it's 'ausgezeichnet' that you found this form. If you're in the area next weekend, try and make it to our Rally in Wisconsin Dells. Introduce yourself and see how many new friends you make.
I wish my German was half as good as your english. Welcome to the forum.

all of you blow me away with your warm welcome.
Thanks for the Winsconsin riders, that is very nice of you to say hello, since it is just 10 minutes from here to the state line.

In this economy I like to say that I am fortunate to have a good job, but then I do work night shift and rotating shift, what gives me only every 7 weeks a weekend off, and that cuts down on participating on events, especially since the most events are held on weekends, but please let them know I say: Hi, lol

Another thing is impressive, too,
You all speak more or less German, and you all are so kind to overlook my shortcomings in regards to my language skills, I appreciate this very much:thumb

I never knew I could make friends that easy and that fast.
Again, on my side, I would love to be helpful with what ever I can help with, I am a computer hardware guy, building computers for now 19 years.
In my real job I am the night shift leader for a very big pharmaceutical company, and I run the utility operation at night. steam boilers, chillers, pumps and so on ..

I live just 20 KM or so South of you - would really like to go riding - drop me a PM.

Also quite a few of us regularly meet at the Full Moon over on Route 41 in Lake Bluff on Sunday mornings... some for breakfast, others to go riding and most just to show off our bike knowledge - or lack thereof.:blah

Welcome to the club.

To Mr. Beemer,
I would love to come down to Lake Forest, to go for a ride, unfortunately, my Bike is currently in Barringtons cycleworks for tire change and for a replacement of the ignition coil, that just died on me 2 weeks ago.
I am still waiting for the call to pick it up, and I am looking for some medicine to calm me down, once they announce to me the costs associated with that little procedure.
Full Moon on Sundays sounds good to me, since it is in a time where I actually can attend, working night shift...

Welcome, Joleze, it's always nice to see a new local member. To answer your question about the local Chicago Region club, yes, there is a membership fee. See the site: http://www.crbmw.com.

Beemer01 and 0U812 are both members as am I. There are some nice rides in the near future that you might be interested in going on. In the meantime, if you can fit it in this weekend, take a day ride to the Dells Rally and say "Hi" if possible.

Maybe you can do the Falling Leaf Rally: When: Oct 9 – 11, 2009 Where: Potosi, MO: Description: Gateway BMW club hosts this spectacular fall event. Camp out and enjoy the colors. Ride the beautiful backroads of MO. I've heard it is a nice ride/rally. I'm a fair weather rider but am considering a heated jacket liner for this ride.

After spending 4 years living in Germany many years ago.....I think I can still count to 20! Duh! I could get my message across when necessary such as - how much? a beer, please. where is the bathroom? and excuse me. There was always someone who spoke English (since most had English as a second language in school). It was a fabulous time.

Beemer: how much will I appreciate any suggestions, however, I do have to say that the service is first class, they alwasy stay with in their estimate and promise, it is just a bit pricey? how do you write that? and so for ever far away.

Sudani: thanks for the nice welcome and thanks for answering my question, now I will go and sign up for the Chicago Region Club, too.
The drive to the Dells is not going to happen for me, I do have to work.. the next weekend off for me will be in the middle of october.

In germany we count: Eins, Zwei drei... ganz viele... or: one, two three.. many more..that works good with out knowing the numbers.. lol,
besides... for a musician there is no need to know more then the first 3 numbers.. when they check their microphones.. welll... :laugh

Es ist Schlechte das Sie nicht zumm Dells Rally gehen könnt. Hoffenlich seehen wir uns bei die Falling Leaf Rally im Oktober!
I'm sure the spelling and grammar are not very good but I hope it's understandable.
