Hello,

It's been few years since I last bought a replacement rear tire and my old reliable choice, the Michelin Macadam 100 / Pilot Road /Pilot Road 2 is now a pretty pricey item. I would appreciate any suggestions on a replacement tire that provides good handling with reasonable mileage. Of course, the odd-ball size 160/60-18, has never helped. Suggestions on mail order retailers would also be appreciated.

I hear you on the price of the Road Pilot 2's, but damm they are very good so I keep using them. Have you tried www.BikeBandit.com or the super store for tire prices. Goodluck and post if you find something as good for less. :thumb:burnout

I run the same size as you do on my R1100RT, and I like the Metzeler ME 880 (radial)

Best tire I ever used on my R1100RS , wet, dry, Long or short haul has been the Pirelli Strada.

What about the Bridgestone Battlemax? A few years ago, these tires were really popular. Relative to the Michelin Pilot Road 2, the Battlemax 021 is $50 less.

BTO20's were original equipment on '94's. I used them on my RS 'til the intro of the Battlax 021. Good tires and good price. I got 11,000 plus miles out of the rear tire and more than that on the front on my last set.
