I've just purchased a new 2004 R1150RT with the radio prep kit. I need a 12 Volt accessory plug in the dash area and would like something that looks nice and clean. With the radio prep kit there isn't very much room for installation. If someone has come up with a solution or has any ideas, I would appreciate you passing them on.
Thanks, Pat

Check out www.bmwrt.com and search it...great folks and lots of help.
I used an RS plug kit (BMW part) and attached it to the bottom of my triple tree. The kit actually plugs into a spare hot feed under the LH tupperware. You just have to trim one side of the female wire end of the kit. Very easy to do. Others have drilled holes in the front of the dash and they also look very "OEM".

They should have everything and anything you may need for 12 volt accessory plugs for your RT. Lots of details and information there for you.

I'm with philby here, did the same thing to mount my gps. Very easy. FYI, the spare feed is tied in with the RID fuse.

Thanks guys for the great suggestions. I bought a bracket from my BMW dealer that will attach to the underside of the triple tree. I had a female BMW plug w/rubber boot that will be mounted on that. Just have to decide where to pick up 12 volts that is fused.
