5 amp v 7.5 amp on 02 r 1150 rt

hi all. My rt blows the 5 amp fuel pump fuse. Works fine on a 7.5 amp fuse. I replaced the fuel filter 3 weeks ago-no change. Replaced the fuel pump today-what is that O-ring brown goop made of anyway?It still blows the 5 amp fuse.Where did I go wrong and what should I be looking for ? Thank you for any ideas that you have.:scratch

My 1996 RS has a 15A fuse. I think yours is meant to be 10A. You might want to verify that.

On all R1100 family bikes the fuel pump fuse is 15A so I would assume yours should be too.

Thank you very much.I most certainly win the bonehead award on this one.Freaked out over nothing! The space shuttle crew should bring along a tube of that brown O-ring goop in case of emergencies.
Hopefully my new fuel pump will last 50k miles like the original (good?) pump did. I'm starting out on a long trip and just wanted everything to be as good to go as possible. Thanks for the advice-obviously I needed it more than you know.:banghead:banghead
