This documentary will affect your interaction with junk food. The most interesting part to me was how the negative effects of Mickey D food, eaten every day for all three meals for 30 days, were medically documented. Wasn't a whole lot of speculation and spin - three different doctors were all shocked at the way in which the guys body was "injured" by a fast food diet. Never mind the huge amounts of sugar and fat consumed and how that leads to diabetes, the guys liver was messed with...the effects were measurable mid-way through the test.
Recommended watching - especially if you have kids/grand-kids who want Happy Meals all the time.
For the record - even though I am shocked at how seriously a junk food diet can mess with a human, I do not support any form of law suit against fast food companies. All we have to do is vote with our wallets.....

After my wife and I saw it, we vowed never to eat at McDonald's again.

the biggest message i got from it was that it is necessary to have moderation to have a healthy, happy life.
thus now instead of eating at mcdonalds all the time, i also go to wendy's, burger king, jack in the box, whattaburger, KFC, and taco bell.

I noticed "Supersize Me" was in the video store last night..it's on my see-it one-of-these-days list.
Meanwhile, I suggest adding "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser to your reading list. Sub-titled "The Dark Side of the All-American Meal" it will make you think twice before hitting the fast food joints on your next excursion. Also recommended is 'Reefer Madness- Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market" by the same author.

I think that "Everything in moderation, including moderation" works for me.
Haven't seen Super Size, but would like to. "Fast Food Nation" is on my list of stuff to read too.

fast food nation is an excellent book. even after you subtract out the author's bias, it's pretty serious stuff. good read.

I haven't read nor seen either of these. Personally, I only go into a fast food restaurant as a last resort, anyway. Part of the joy of travelling is seeing (and tasting) what's local. Besides, I'd rather take a break than go for IB mileages in a day, so I'm always interested in a sit down restaurant.

Well Mickie D's food is cooked (i.e. defrosted and thrown in the microwave) locally, isn't it? You don't think they ship it from the factory cooked, do you? So doesn't that qualify as "local"? :dunno
