Trying to determine whether I have a normal noise that I can't diagnose or if I have a compression leak. Sounds like a squeaking noise and it is more prevalent at low rpm as opposed to higher rpms. When I get on the throttle it goes away.

Is there a normal (R1150R) engine noise that could be making me worry uneseccarily ?

It's doubtful that it could be a compression leak you are hearing. You don't hear them when the engine is running. Has your oil consumption gone up in the last couple thousand miles or so? If not then ring blow by is not the culprit of your squeak.

Check the alternator belt.

on the ALT belt. They can look perfect on the shiny side and be shredding on the grooved side!
