I have had a set of Michelin Pilots on my 1200 RT for 14,000 miles now and there is still some wear left. I like this but for the last 3000 miles or so the loud noise while doing even gentle leaning in curves is terrible. I'll be getting new tires soon as it is no longer enjoyable to ride and it is a 4 hour ride to the dealer. Has anyone else experienced this with these tires??

I had the same experience with Pilot Roads.
Good tires but very loud in turns.

I have the same experience with Bridgestone BT020 -- nearing the end of life the tires are loud when cornering.

My tires were Dunlop Sportmax now they are Dunlop RoadSmart (I think). Any way at about 4500 miles the orginal tires started to cup and make noise just like you describe. My friendly dealer told me to increase the air presure to the max presure (I called both dealers in my area because I was sceptical at first). I did and that was that.

But it is pretty amazing that your tires even make noise at 14000 miles. Mine were changed at 10000 miles and maybe had another 1000 miles before I was stranded.

I had the same problem with Pilot Roads and a Metzger. I put Avon Storms on and didn't notice the noise untill around 15K, at 18K there was still plenty of tread, per the TWI, so I did 3K more. Noise got worse, but there is still tread. Not enough for another trip, but the Storm has performed very well.

i ran a Metzger on my bike once. but Josh got really annoyed, and made all kinds of noise! i switched to a Metzler instead. he didn't complain near as much.

Thanks a lot for all the info. Guess I should try the Avon Storms. 15K or more sounds GREAT.

Rob - Thanks for the tip. I also had a noisy Michelin Pilot due to cupping. After reading your post, I tried increasing pressure to max, and no more noise.
