View Full Version : My current ride
Hi,
I've finally got a blog going on my current ride and I thought I'd pass the link along for anyone that may be interested.
http://gsguy.wordpress.com/
I started in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada near the end of May and have done 30,000km to date through Canada, US, England, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. I don't really have a set plan on where I ride, but expect to be back in Edmonton around May/June 2010.
My ride is a 2009 GS Adventure with some Touratech, Adventure Design, and other add-on parts.
All the best,
DRad

Only got as far as your Iceland adventures, but I must say, I like it...a lot.
Thanks- I'm trying to keep it from getting too dry with just a list of locations and pictures.
I'm Umeå, Sweden right now getting my bike's 30,000km service so I've been able to get the blog more up to date. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it no more than a week behind my actual track.
Keep the rubber on the road,

Don't let the burden of doing a blog spoil your ride though. I know I had days when I wondered why I'd bothered committing to keep a blog updated. I'd just take a few shots instead and save them as a reminder until I felt more like writing again and they acted as an aide memoire.
Sometimes I feel like it's a job, but I generally enjoy it. I also tend to post in fits and starts around my riding. A few days to a week with nothing and then get a bunch in when I have some free time- like the service I'm getting now.
If I ever miss a chance to ride to update my blog then I'll just have to stop for a while- as you say, a couple of pics are good enough to remind you of things when you do have the chance to post so there really is no hurry.

I know, we shouldn't complain really, because even when it feels like a job, it's a bloody good job isn't it?

Drad, I just returned from a trip (10,000+ miles) and kept a blog as much as I could. I enjoyed recalling the events of the day or days, when I camped. I did not really understand how much it was appreciated by my family and friends. As they quoted, it was a great break from their routine to read "Dave's Day".
On suggestion. I used Facebook to post really quick updates. Facebook also helped people easily give suggestions on what to see or where to eat. Facebook has many apps using the Apple Iphone or blackberries.
My facebook is www.facebook.com/david.dorwart
Also, my blog is

Have fun, I will be reading and staying with you.
Dave
Hi again,
The trip is still going strong (about 50,000km/31,000 miles in now) and I've just finished riding through Turkey and Kurdish Iraq. The blog is getting up to date and should have all the Iraq stuff done today.
Thanks for reading!
Drad
