With all the discussion about BMW Motorrad here on the Forum, I thought I'd share some info I came across:

The guy who has headed up development and product lines at BMW Motorrad, Dr.-Ing. Markus Braunsperger is moving to the BMW AG automobile division. He was responsible for the development of the new boxer and the K 1200 S.

The new guy we can all complain to is Peter Müller, who has been the home office marketing and sales guy as of late. He's an engineer, and before coming to BMW AG, he was active in the engine development division of Porsche AG. Hoo-baby!

Taking his place in sales and marketing will be the South African Pieter de Waal, who was previously responsible for the motorcycle business in Great Britain, and prior to that the motorcycle division of the South African BMW AG subsidiary.

Here's a pic of Dr. Braunsperger on his latest creation.

Engine development division of Porsche... Was this guy involved in developing the engine for the Harley V-Rod?

I hope so. Those V-Rods can really move.

Yeah man. Whatevery you do, don't try to run against a V-rod with your fully loaded GS.

However, the K12RS dispatches V-rods with ease! :burnout

I like the performance bent that BMW appears to be taking, but I sure hope they don't abandon the Adventure touring segment that they themselves created.

According to a friend of mine at BMW Motorrad here in the US, the GS model is the most likely choice of conquest buyers... customers switching from other brands, most notably Harley.
