I've got a 2004 R1150 RT. A few days ago, I rode a K1200S and was blown away at the power of the K motor. While the K12S was fun, I want more of a sports touring bike with more of an upright seating position. Tell me why I might want a K12GT. If I were to sell the RT, I would use the money to basically swap for whatever I could get, which I'm guessing would be a low mileage 03 or 04 model.

Tell me pros and cons.

What I love about my RT are the following:
Good motor
Electric adjustable windscreen (Cee Bees)
Radio / amp for my iPod with built-in polk speakers - not helmet speakers
Heated Grips
Corbin seat allows backrest to mount for driver or passenger
Upright seating.
Fairly good luggage space.
Good distance between fill ups

Loved to hear the responses.

The 03-04 K1200GT:
Good motor, smoother and more powerful
Electric adjustable windshield
Heated Grips
Corbin seat is available with optional backrest for driver and passenger

Smooth running

Cons:
Gas tank not large enough for me
More horsepower means less miles between rear tire changes
Left side case is small due to muffler cut out.

I will assume that since you tested the S, you are asking about the new K transverse motor, so either a later K12 or a new K13GT...That same motor from the S, with a few tweeks for a better touring feel will leave your RT in the dust. It has all the other farkles and niceties you mention, more upright seating, and is way fast solo or two up. When I tested the 13S, salesman Joe was on the 13GT going around the onramp to the freeway, and he seriously dusted me fully leaned over. I don't have one, but I do have to wear a bib when I get around any of these new 4s.
