1999 R1100RT right footrest assembly is cracked. I will remove it to have it TIG welded, if it can be, or replaced.

Clymers says to remove master cylinder from backside. In so doing, is there harm in leaving the brake line/hose and the remote reservoir hose connected and the master cylinder detached but sitting in place while the assembly is being tended to?

Any precautions, special procedures?

No danger if you use a cord to hold the assembly up. I did mine in a parking lot withe the tool kit and a bungge.

If you have it welded you find that it is a bitch to clean up and repaint.

That may be, but a new one is priced at $360. I do have a request in to the Boneyard and to Repsycle.
