My 1996 R1100R stalls from time to time at low idle. The bike just had a tune up and yearly service from the dealer, however they cannot duplicate the problem. The bike will allways start right back up. It is not good to have a motorcycle that stops running while it is moving. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

I have a 1997 R1100R, I did have a similar problem, but only at low RPM, like when stopped at lights, I had the valves tuned and all is good now. Hope this helps.

I probably should have stated low rpm instead of low idle. The valve idea sounds reasonable since the problem did not happen before the valves were adjusted. The bike seems to start a little on the rough side. The motorcycle is so quite it is hard to tell when it has stalled. It seems that the mileage may have gone down a little after the valve adjustment.

Good day. I just adjusted the valves on my 95 R11R and she low idles much more comfortably but she still needs a throttle body sync. Your's may, too?

Hi Rob:

I'd adjust the valves again. Too quiet could mean too tight. Lower fuel economy might mean too tight. Too tight will definitely cause damage.

Time to start working on your bike yourself if so inclined.
It's much more satisfying to cause your own problems!
