I'm noticing some noise from my front brakes. It's sort of a rythmic cheep-cheep-cheep sound when gradually coming to a stop. It's worse 2-up becuase there's more weight and I'm also applying the brakes more gently.

I don't notice any grabbiness or pulsing in the feel of the brakes, and if I brake marginally harder it goes from an intermittent chirp to more of a squeal. Harder yet and there's no noise, but 2-up that tends to result in banged helmets and more dive, etc.

Thoughts? Is there something simple I can do to deglaze the rotors and see if that helps? This winter I plan to replace the lines with stainless and maybe do new pads & rotors if it's still doing this (and new fork springs too) but there's a lot of pad left, and the rotors seem pretty good to me. Not sure of the miles on these.

Sounds like (no pun intended) the ubiquitous Slightly warped rotor....see all the other threads on solving that...

If your going to replace the rotors I recommend EBC. I've had a set on the front for about 10k miles and they have performed very well. I used the EBC copper-sintered pads when I did the rotor replacement. I had the typical squeal/pulsing problems and went through everything as far as cleaning, deglazing, etc. Nothing worked until I replaced the rotors and pads. I've now done a second set of pads - Carbonne Lorraine - and they are performing very well.

I don't work for EBC or anything - I just have had a good experience with them and I know this front brake issue - especially the pulsing - has been a big topic of discussion for a long time. This is the solution that worked for me.

Ditto to the warped rotor. Can check with a dial indicator if you can borrow one.
Same for EBC rotors and Carbone Lorrain pads. The EBC Rotors were about $50 less each than BMW. I'm on my second set of Carbone front pads and highly recomend them also. Have tried the sintered metal (Dunlopad) front pads, but they did not work well in the wet, scarry when needed.
Origional BMW organic material on the rear disc is working well too.

thanks
