I've done it(US2) all the way across from the Great Lakes and its such a Great ride. From Montana and its grass lands,Glacier NP and on into Idaho and Washington, its one of the best cross country routes. Even Rugby, N.Dakota(US2) has something! The geographical center of N.America:). Its clearly marked for a picture of your bike alongside it:), in the center of Rugby,ND...I found US2 fascinating. Randy.....Thx for the Wash, US2 picsetc, they're great shots.

Thanks for the kind words...
It's a section of Highway I've always wanted to photograph in the morning light.
I can't believe I haven't ridden across the US yet.
Driven it multiple times...
When I do... It'll be on US 2. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_2)

Beautiful shots. On one of the pictures, (with the Road sign) have you taken the dirt rd from US 2 up to Jamison Lake? Rd is pretty smooth. From the south end of the lake you can either continue north, or head east and that'll take you up to Rd 5 which will lead you back to Hwy 17. Was heading that route to visit Mold one day, but the little Honda bike got a flat and someone forgot to bring the tools. Had to limp the bike back to Cashmere.
Or you can head south from there to Rimrock Meadows then the dirt rd to Palisades and end up on Hwy 28 south of Rock Island and East Wenatchee.

Many of the geographic features of US 2 through Washington were created by this (http://www.glaciallakemissoula.org/). Including the boulders on the hilltops. I have freinds in NW Montana a few miles from the ice dam site.
Another good US2 site (http://roadtripusa.com/routes/greatnorthern/greatnorthern.html)
