Hi There. Never posted here before, but this seemed like a good way to start.

I've been in contact with Karl Kugler to get details about doing a special batch job of his Kugler Klamps - those are the quick release hinges for swapping System case lids. http://www.evolutioncycles.com/product%20info.htm Here are preliminary details to do a group buy:

Karl Kugler said he will do a limited run if we order at least 12 sets. Here are the preliminary details from Karl:

minimum order of 12 sets (a set does 4 lids and two case body). We have about 7 or 8 buyers so far...

$35 per set in plain aluminum finish.

$150 batch charge to be split by those who want anodized.

$10 to ship all to one central place (me), $6.50 to mail direct to individuals.

note: If I take delivery for all, then I'll have to get covered for postage and envelopes.

2-3 weeks turn-around is likely minimum.

Right now I just need to know who's in and whether you want anodized or plain aluminum finish. pm me or email me with Kugler Klamps in the subject line - m dot chirnomas at gmail . Once we know how many want anodized we can set the final price for people to either PayPal money to me or directly to Kugler.

UPDATE: ADDITIONAL INFO. FROM KUGLER:

I went ahead and checked with the anodizing shop for cost and turn-around as well as lead time for ordering materials.

To have the parts anodized would add an additional 4-5 business days to the process with their current workload. (subject to change if they get a huge order/job) Adding that to the time to order materials and fabricating would make it about a 2 week turn around once I received a paid order for 12 or more kits.
It may be less depending on delivery times for parts & materials, but I could not guarantee less than the 2 weeks.

For bare/brushed aluminum finish, the turn-around time would be about 4-5 business days less.
Shipping via USPS Priority Mail is usually 2-3 days to anywhere in the 48 states.

And I hate to sound harsh, but I will not order materials until I receive payment for an order. And since this is a custom order, once the materials are ordered there will be no refunds unless there is a defect.
I am no longer marketing this product, so I don’t have a ready path to resell any excess/returned kits.
I hope that you can understand.

-----

Costs would be:
$35/set in bare/brushed aluminum finish
Add $150 for black satin anodizing {if only a portion of those ordering want anodized, the $150 upcharge cost would be divided amongst just those kits.}
$6.50 shipping/handling to individual addresses.{Up to 4 kits. $10.00 for 5 or more kits to one address<due to weight>}
$10.00 to mail entire bulk order to one address. [If significantly more than 12 kits, I may have to check to see if this shipping estimate is still accurate.]
$5.00/set for extra sets of long screws (stainless button, optional for additional lid sets or spares)
$5.50/each for M5-0.8 tap required for installation (optional but offered as a convenience, must be specified at time of ordering)

-----

The tap is offered as a convenience because some people do not have a fully equipped hardware store handy where they can purchase individual taps. (if they don’t have a set of metric taps) If people are going to be buying as groups and installing together, they only need one tap for the group. It will last for quite a while…

The extra sets of long screws are suggested only if people intend to use both the standard and extra large lids and store the lids by hanging them on the wall the way I suggest in my “Tips-n-Tricks”. That way you can leave the screws in place in the lids when swapping and reduce change over times even further. Also reduces fumbling around with the screws. The standard kit comes with two sets of screws that fit either the city or standard/extra-large lids.
http://www.evolutioncycles.com/FAQ.htm#tips

Personally, once I had a set of extra-large and city lids, I stopped using the standard touring lids altogether. You either need maximum space (extra-large lids) or maximum sleekness (city lids). So I don’t use the middle size at all anymore…

Of course ,some people also order extra sets of screws just to have spares. In some areas it can be difficult to find small metric button head cap screws in small quantities. I know that I have to buy in bulk, especially to get a decent price… I will also sell extra sets of the shorter (city lid) screws for the same $5.00 price for people as spares if interested, but I have never lost one by simply storing the unused lids on the wall and leaving the screws in place. YMMV.

Also, remind people that they only need one set of Kugler Klamps per bike/set of saddlebag inner halves that they own. One set of Kugler Klamps will allow you to own/change-out as many different sets of lids as you would like. They mount to the back half of the saddlebags, not the lids.

I would be interested in a set of these. I don't know whether you've already made the group buy or not.

Also, would take a used set as well.

I'm in for two sets. Would prefer the anodized, but would take the aluminum finish if that's how it works out. I have one set already and think they are great. :thumb

I'd like a set as well. Plain aluminum is fine.
And I'll take the M5-0.8 tap as well.

That looks like 35.00 + 5.50 + 6.50 S+H = $47.00, yes?
