Just got back from my longest dual sport ride of the summer. We had 8 start the ride and 7 finish. Our bikes ranged from a Yamaha 225 all the way to a R1200GSA. Started in Canon City, CO with back roads to Buena Vista, over Cottonwood Pass to Taylor Res., upstream and over a small pass to Spring Creek Res., down and up to Crested Butte, up Kebler Pass and down Ohio Pass and on into Gunnison for the night. The next day over Wanita Pass, Black Sage, Old Monarch over Manarch and down to Marshall Pass. Over Marshall Pass to Salida and down the river road to Canon City again. 370 miles with about 75% dirt

As one who grew up in Canon and started riding motorcycles there; my father purchasing the bikes for my brother and me at "Jones Bicycle Shop", which sold Schwinn bikes, Benellis, Vespa and Yamaha. Thanks for the post. It brings to mind a lot of memories.

Thanks for the reply. I have been in Canon since the 70's. Great place to ride. Mountains close enough for summer and if you can get over Raton Pass you have the SE desert access in the winter. Best of both worlds, just can't get to Utah to easily.

Podso! I grew up in Canon too. I never had you as a teacher, but was good friends with Emily.

I checked out your photo link to Ortega's page. I graduated with him in '93 from CCHS. Please tell him I said hi.

If you'd like to have another R1200GS Adventure join your group rides, send me a PM. I'm always down for riding. I've had this GS for a year and have put 10,000 miles on it already. I'm just down the road in Pueblo. I noticed another name in your group. I know Ralf, he and I have done business together in the past. Cool small world!
