My painter is having difficulties crossing the Glasurit code #029 with a more recent application or color. It is for the metallic gold or curry. Anyone out there know of a close alternative or even better, the correct application? Thanks.

My brother has a PPG (manufactured by Ditzler) paint mixing system. He was able to find my paint code in his computer database. It didn't come up under BMW motorcycles but did come up under BMW cars. My 2003 bike is painted a 94-97 BMW car color. My friend's 07 R1200RT was also listed under BMW cars. Both of the colors were excellent matches. I understand the BMW codes are Glasurit codes but other manufacturers have matching colors. This may be helpful also. http://http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/paintcodes.htm

The USA-based Glasurit expert is Holt BMW, Athens, OH.

I'm sure they'd rather paint your bike rather than give away free advice, of course. Have never heard if they will just sell you some paint.

Thanks Kent and osbornk,
I spent the good part of yesterday finding a solution to the paint issue. I have some friends that own a custom paint shop so I borrowed some paint samples. Man, was I close to painting it this really cool green color! I found what I thought might be very close to what BMW sold in the early 70's. It is by dupont and is called fusion orange effect. I should have some pics later today. I'll post on my other thread. It came the closest I have found thus far. If its not totally correct, it will sure look damn cool. Thanks again for all replies!

My 75 75/6 is curry as well. The glasurit color code is 529. I checked with Holt, they could not furnish it. However, a local firm called Industrial Finishes can make a batch based on that number. Are you looking to paint with Glasurit, or are you going with another manufacturer?

Better paint shops can scan you paint for a color match, if your paint isn't too far gone. I had this done on my G/S to match the blue tank. Not a perfect match but close.
