Looking for an aftermarket oil temp guage that would replace the OEM oil filler cap on my 92 K75 RT. Anybody know of one?
Thanks,'Ed

Out of curiosity. Why? :dunno
Since it is a water cooled engine, oil temp will be within proper temps if water is within proper temps. Do you have the water temp gauge?

Hi, Hortoed,
You must be an old Airhead. The oil temp gauge which would replace the airhead oil dipstick/filler cap was a thermometer which reached down into the sump. The K-bikes have no dipstick, so I doubt the same type of gauge would work unless you found a way to get the thermometer into the sump. Save your money! If you really want a gauge, attach a coolant temperature gauge. BMW will sell you all the parts necessary, including the gauge. Hint - it ISN'T cheap!

Also I think (I don't know for sure) you would have a very hard time snaking it down to the oil pan, there is just to much in the way. Depending what your concern is, maybe racing then a pyrometer (measures exhaust temp) would be better, easier to hook up, and much more instant info, you would know as soon as your exhaust was hot long before your oil or coolant would register any change. But total over kill for a street bike.
And as stated above you can get everything you need from BMW to hook up a gauge, but I bet you can get a replacement motor of ebay cheaper.

Thanks to all!! My first time using the forum and I got the answers I needed today.
I'll look at water temps and oil pressure guages. Old Blue and I are approaching 100K miles and loving life. Heading to Texas hill country and South Padre Island in three weeks from Virginia.

So old blue is half broken in. :wow another 100k and it will be all broken in. My 85 k100rs has over 200k so it is all broken in, I am just broke :violin
While the gauges are nice.... the idiot lights work well enough for 95% of the people, I have seen 3 k-bikes go hundreds of miles with non working cooling fans. As long as you are moving. It’s that stop and go driving will heat them up quick.
