Got around to making over the bike. Did it piece by piece whenever I had the time starting with blacking out the wheels last year. Flat/matte paint no clear coat. Blacked out the fender and cowl along with the front cover and the headlight rim. Tank is khaki, kind of light in the pix.

The paint sanded down on the tank nice and smooth. While I was at it I filled in dents on each side of the tank. My proudest moment with bondo, flush and no ghost. Had this planned out for some time and couldn't be happier with the out come.

Love the colors! :thumb

Hate that windscreen :D
It looks like someone strapped a riot shield to the bike.

ditto, that front fender is designed for a cleaner look.

ditch the screen, find yourself some lower bars and you'll have a very handsome bike.

Nice job...like the tank knee pads. What adhesive did you use and how did it go? I've got a set to put on my /7. Regards, John:clap

I have a rattle-can paint job in store for the Lufthauptprojekt –

your results are an encouragement.

I Don't like the riot shield, either ...
but then, it's YOUR bike,
and I, for one, would be disappointed if you made concessions
to appease anyone else's sense of style and or comfort.

How boring would it be if we all conspired to the same ideals ?

needs gators on those fork tubes to go along with the tank pads, I do most of the painted parts in the sand color, fork sliders, headlight bucket and ears. but than again I've been known to take things to far....

Black wheels baby! All bikes should have black wheels.

goes to show that a well prepped rattlecan job can look nice. it's ALL in the prep.
ive rattlecanned quite a few airheads, with great success.

we should start a 'rattlecanned airheads' thread :drink

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I know what you mean, I can't stand the windshield but I'll have to put up with it for the time being. It's big and ugly but keeps the wind off. I take it off every once in a while but riding without it is too much air.

My plan is to put hand guards on the bars and a smaller screen.

I don't mind the bars, they're comfy and kind of best of both worlds. I believe they're k75 bars? BEing the bike started as an RS.

I do ALOT of riding on this bike and with bars, I would rather be comfy than cool. haha.

Other than that, I'm happy cosmetically with the bike.

The shield is a National Cycle.
