Going to repaint the valve covers on my RT. After stripping {the paint} should I use high temp paint or would regular enamel do. Do I have to primer , if so, what primer should I use. Thanks

use an Automotive primer/sealer for best results. I wouldn't think high temp paint is needed on valve covers.

I have had great results over the years with this process:
Bead blast to strip the cover.
Fill any gouges with JB Weld, sand smooth.
Prime with DupliColor (green) self-etching primer. Dry thoroughly.
Apply 3 even coats of DupliColor Low Gloss Black Engine Enamel (with ceramic) The regular stuff, not the 1500 degree header paint.
Dry thoroughly. Sand the paint off the stripes with 400 grit wet,
Buff the stripes to desired luster.
As always, YMMV!

I just used a can of gloss black engine paint--I think that's what it was. I'd it a few years back and don't quite remember. Also, it's recommended to remove the paint/coating on the inside of the covers as well.

I have achieved good durable results in flat-black on alloy castings
with Rustoleum B-B-Q paint – no primer.
