I keep my bike in the garage, but I'm tired of those pesky mice living in the airbox or hitching rides with me! I'm not very handy so I'd rather not try and build something. I'm thinking that a screentent big enough for one motorcycle, with a built in floor would work well.

Thoughts, ideas?

THANKS!

How often do mice hitch rides? How far are they going? If you gave more mice a ride they might not build nests. I am not sure a tent will provide the security a garage might. ..........DeCon.......... :clap

Just get two corks or rubber stoppers. You can put strings on them or brighlt colored flags. One goes in the muffler the other goes in the airbox snorkel. Or just get a mouse trap.

I was really hoping for a serious reply... I have gone 20 miles to a friends house, opened up the seat and had a mouse looking back at me. I live in the country, so I'd go through a hundred traps a day easy. The cat stays in the house due to the fact that fishers and foxes eat them for lunch.

I have seen some bags, and fiberglass boxes, but they cost from $200 to $3000. With no food on the bike I don't think the mice will have a reason to chew through tent material.

I understand where you are coming from. I live in the country and my bikes live in a barn. I have only had one mouse/rat occurance though - a small nest built over winter on the cylinder head of my Hayabusa - just under the air box. No damage to wires, but a mess to clean up. I haven't had a problem with any other bikes. We have 2 dogs that roam the property and a cat. The dogs actually chase rats/mice as much as any cat. You might look into a medium to small size dog bred to chase rodents - beagles, schnausers(sp?) etc. As for a tent to do the job, I'd look ar getting a Black Diamond Megamid from campmore. The floor is seperate (get it and add it). I DO NOT KNOW how they join(floor and main tent), a very serious question you need to ask before purchase. Also, you might look into moth balls - seems to deter rodents.

Also, go out and start it(bike) up every other day. If they realize the thing is gonna get hot, shake and maybe more rather often, they will wise up and move on.:D

If you have electricity in the garage you may want to look into ultrasonic rodent replents.

My employer has some of these in his barn and they seem to work.
