I have become curious about the numbers stamped into the base of the cylinder of my R76/6. The PO put late model valve covers on ( /7 series ) and I think that is all he did, but was hoping the numbers would give me a answer without tearing anything apart.
Numbers read
30 over 22 on both sides
and then B
What do they mean? TIA

I was only aware that the Nikasil barrels had any markings on them that made sense. You would see either 80 or 10 (for 800 or 1000cc) and then an A, B, or C for the slight variations on size. It's safe to say that if you don't see the numbers above, then you should have iron cylinders. AFAIK, the iron cylinder numbers just represent information about the casting or molds used to make them. Beyond that, they're probably useless.
