Hi, I have a 2008 GT and I'm getting ready to change the plugs and adjust the valves for the first time. The maintenance manual has a lengthy procedure for purging the coolant system after reinstalling the radiator. Is there a simpler way to purge the radiator?

Hi,
I don't do my own maintenance but every time my dealer removes the radiator they have a hard time getting the air out. The last time the whole crew was leaning over the computer reading the latest update from BMW on how to do it. My mechanic said BMW keeps changing the procedure trying to find something that works and is simple. When there's air in the fluid channels the motor overheats rapidly. After you complete the project let us know how it went.

Does your dealer pull a vacuum on the cooling system with the BMW "tool" and still hve trouble?

Just wondering what mileage you are doing this at? Plugs every 24K miles, and valves only if the readout indicates you need to is what I have read in the service manual. Very diff from Boxer twins 6000 mile interval. Coolant change every 4 years as well. I have not seen a simple purge procedure for the radiator either, I was hoping to use a vaccum set up when I do thru a modified cap ...and the shops seem to be still learning as well per other posts by halrkent
