I am a 2 day old member from Columbus Ohio. I have fallen in love with my girl "Misty", a 1996 R1100RT. I bought Misty in April and have enjoyed logging just about 4k miles on her. I have a ride planned in September to ride in TN, N.C. and Northern GA. I am always thinking about the next ride and where I can go, I becoming a "junkie" and loving it! Proud to be a member of a great organization!

Welcome! It looks like you have caught the fever and the only prescription is more miles! (Apologies to Christopher Walken and SNL for stealing their schtick)
You will find the RT Oilheads just want to keep on going when other bikes are done for the day. Enjoy yours and once again, welcome to the site.

Just purchased a 1998 R1100RT and love it . . . . anyone have a recommendation for the best maintenance facility in Ohio? Bought it out-of-state and have no experience with any of the BMW dealers or independent shops. Thanks!!

oh... if you're not aware, you're near to the home of the American Motorcyclist Association (http://www.americanmotorcyclist.com). Membership is well worth it, and they have an excellent museum you will enjoy. covered motorcycle parking, of course!
pyoder: i am sending you a local Columbus contact via PM. he doesn't hang out here on the forum.

Joined the BMWOA to have information that is available and also disussions of the BMW bikes.I have owned many Kawasakis-KZ 1000 and recently purchased a new Harley Dyna Glide (2004).After four years of the Harley I decided to purchase a bike that would run great easy on the back and also would stop and handle great. Thus I purchased a 1989 K100Rs.One owner a few miles on it (85,785).However the bike runs like a clock,it rides stops and handles far better than the duce.
The RS in my opinion is the road bike that Harley will never create, just an awesome machine, plenty of power and just a good looking bike.I have been riding for 45 years and this bike brings back the old days of riding and actually enjoying the experience.I hope that I can add to the site and enjoy the friendships that are vital to any organization. To all have a great ride and thanks for the site, super for information and utilizing all the knowledge the members have.
From one RS rider to another: We'll be lookin' for you over in the Airheads forum. :thumb
