Hello,

You may recall that I'm converting my CHP bike back to a dual seater. I'm 99.9% done and pretty pleased how it's all turning out. At the same time I was working on this I also decided to redo all the workbenches and cabinets in my garage so things got a little confusing trying to find misplaced parts for a little while.

Here's my question. When I removed the stock windshield a few months ago I thought I put all the parts in one place. Now when I go to put the shield back on I only have the black plastic "strips" that go on the front of the shield. These have the holes drilled through them so the bolts can go through and attach to the metal windshield support bracket. Isn't there supposed to be another set of plastic type "strips" that go on the underside of the windshield that together with the strips on the front together they sort of "sandwich" the shield before it's mounted to the metal support bracket? I know simple question but I don't have any reference point.

On the bright side my garage is getting much more organized but I still haven't found those missing strips! (if they really do exist!)

Thanks all!
Scott

what about a quick trip to the dealer and take a peek? or go to maxmoto and look at the parts breakdowns.

My nearest dealer is 45 minutes away and I was hoping that someone might be able to take a quick look at their RT and let me know...

There are no pastic strips under the windshield. There are some small washers made out of a soft material.

Same here. Now you have a whole new problem, you just have to find those small washers, huh?

Check out MAX BMW online parts fiche, that way when you can't find the part you can also order it ... http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/fiche.asp

The washers stuck to my windshield when I removed it.

Are these washers about as thick as a sheet of paper? I think I found them...

Yes they are about as thick as a sheet of paper.

Try this link. It may be helpful and shows the correct arrangment.

If you had been out riding instead of taking the bike apart and THEN cleaning the garage you wouldn't be here now.

Good Luck

Just a wrap up on this thread. There are a total of eight rubber washers/pads that complete the install. 4 are paper thin and go on the front side of the windshield and 4 are somewhere between 1/16" to 1/18" thick and go on the inside between the shield and metal support. Got mine from Santa Cruz BMW and now I'm set.

Thanks for all the input.
