I am new on here, thanks to Kbasa for his assistance getting registered. My 1979 R100R/T has a problem with the headlight, after about 5 min into the ride,it starts to pulse or flash.I have tried different relays, cleaning connectors, gronnd,a new plug, different bulb. The first relay I tried the light quit flashing, but the guage and taillight went out.I'm getting rather frustrated with this and its getting to that time of year when that R/T fairing comes in handy.Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated.

the white wire in the center of the relay was causing my tail and instrument lights to go out. i really had to pinch it on there with some pliers to keep it from happening intermittently

Thanks, not alot of responses, but I know electric stuff can be tricky. If I cant figure it out,I may just wire the headlight direct to the battery, this has been driving me nuts and I'm near the end of my rope.:dunno

Ignition/key switch? Prone to wear from vibration and use and can cause lights on/off/maybe problems... HTH.

I just replaced the relay in the headlight bucket. The lights would work then not, I think the relay had carbon arching debris fron twenty years of use. Check the relay output when the lights are activated and see if you get current. It is also the cheapest thing to change..
