carb swap

I recall reading here about swapping the Bing type53 26mm carbs [R60/6] for the Mikuni VM26 carbs. Whoever posted this said they had better throttle response, and better overall performance.

The pros and cons of this exchange, mounting, air cleaner modifications/changes?

I also ride a R60/6 and have often wondered if there is a carb upgrade available out there for these bikes. I was once told that the carbs used on the R45 would fit but since they were not sold here, used ones are next to impossible to find.
