We have stayed in London before. There's a nice MOTEL called the Budget Host Inn. It's right next to the interstate. You can park right in front of the door to your room. It's clean and cheap. There's a steak place next door that serves alcohol (it's a dry county). And a Cracker Barrel within walking distance.
We'll hop on 25 there and go through the Gap the next morning. Beautiful scenery through here.

I left Santa Cruz yesterday. I woke up this morning in Kingman, AZ. Tonight I'm in Amarillo. Tomorrow night I hope to be in Little Rock.
I am seeing entirely too much of I-40. :hungover
At least the R12ST is getting great mileage. I have been travelling between 80 and 90, indicated, and I had a tank of 48mpg that went to -2 miles on the range to empty display. 249.7 miles and I could only squeeze 5.2 gallons in at the end.

I'm currently in the middle of the 100 degree stuff. Left Fayetteville, AR yesterday and spent the night in Weatherford, TX. Rode Route 16,23, & 71 thru AR yesterday down to I30. Interstate was boring, but it does allow you to make up time for the nice slow cruising thru the scenic stuff. Today I'm headed for Alamogordo, NM. Another day of 100's and lots of sun.
Be careful out there and have fun at the Rally. Wish I was able to be there.

After spending the night there, next morning I'll get back on Skyline Drive and ride it until the end. I'll then take the Blue Ridge Parkway to Roanake, and slab the rest of the way to the rally.
Friday I plan to do a modified "1001 Twisties" ride to the Tail of the Dragon.

After suffering through 40 days of rain in NH, the weather gods looked kindly on me and gave us perfect weather today. We left at the crack of 8:00AM and arrived in Harrisburg, PA at 6:00. Suffice to say we didn't hurt ourselves pushing it. Lisa is sunning herself pool side and I am enjoying the wireless. The blue skies and temps barely touching 80 were such a treat today. We did a lot of highway, I wanted to make decent time.
We're going to skip over to the Capitol Building for a picture, and enjoy our fine priceline accommodations, thanks Bill!
Tomorrow we have a similarly "'grueling" day ahead of us, that ends in setting up and tent and hoping Brown delivers.

I have made so many trips between shop and house and doing final check-offs for 6AM liftoff...I am over analyzing at this point...typical pre trip "what if's". Helen is briefing the neighbors...and of course today our well started sputtering.
No rain in months and two knucklehead morons( who are in custody and in big FED trouble for tampering with a public water supply) who drained more than an estimated 500,000 gallons out of our aquifer in the two towns on either side of me the other day by opening several fire hydrants are not leaving me with a good feeling.

I left Miami Beach on June 8th for the National rally. Why so early for an 850 mile ride? I had a few stops I needed to make along the way. First, I stopped outside Aspen, CO to go camping with a buddy I haven't seen for years. Then, I attended the Red Rock Rendezvous rally in Panguitch, UT. From there I headed north to Vancouver, Canada for a work-related conference. While in Canada, I decided to go trout fishing in Jasper and then ride the Icefields Parkway down to Montana. Red Lodge, Yellowstone, Cody, Sturgis, etc. I eventually weaved my way to Maggie Valley, NC a couple of days ago. After racking up 11,000 miles in less than 6 weeks, I'll be riding the quick 80 miles to the National on Wednesday. What a road trip!:thumb

Just checked in to a motel in Lebanon, TN. Tomorrow is a short day, should be to the fairgrounds in the mid morning. But the big thing is, I WILL FINALLY GET OFF OF I-40!
At least today was a bit cooler, though I did get a little wet this morning in Arkansas. Otherwise, it has never been below 90F on this trip since I crossed the Santa Cruz mountains. High was 113F crossing into Arizona near Needles, CA, and that was at 6pm!
See you guys at the Vintage Display. I will have three bikes, the black R1200ST (not vintage yet), my black 1953 R51/3 and my black 1928 R52.

Hey, All:
We rode just over 300 miles yesterday. We traveled mostly on 80 through southern KY. We spent the night in Somerset, KY.
We'll be leaving soon to go on to Cumberland Gap, Kingsport, TN and Johnson City, TN. So far we have dodged the rain. It was all around us.
We rode on some wet roads but never got rained on. It rained here during the night. It looks like we may avoid it again today. Not so
lucky the rest of the week.
We found a great restaurant, Reno's Roadhouse. We were just about too tired to eat, but the food was good.
Atmosphere was similar to Texas Roadhouse. It wasn't quite as noisy and the music wasn't country (more like
oldies).
We didn't get much sleep last night. We stayed at a cheap motel near an intersection
on a state highway that runs through the middle of Somerset. It was kind of like trying to sleep next to the Indy 500.
There must have been a fire station or ambulance shed close by. Sirens all night long.
